La Ch’tite Boucle: Cycling Towards Climate-Ready Schools

La Ch’tite Boucle: Cycling Towards Climate-Ready Schools

As Freddy Mercury put it, I want to ride my bicycle

In France they understand; who doesn’t want to ride their bicycle? So the French team turned that idea into a full day of learning on two wheels. This cycling loop rolls through exemplary school retrofits in the Hauts-de-France region – from Valenciennes to Lille.

The heatwaves of summer 2026 have made it clear: making schools climate-ready is one of the defining challenges of our time. And what better way to understand the benefits than to experience them first-hand?

Through the ÉduRénov programme, Ressorts (Energiesprong France), together with Cd2e, Bivouak and the Banque des Territoires, invite construction professionals, building owners and local decision-makers to a unique day by bike, discovering outstanding school retrofit projects up close. The day also builds on two European LIFE projects: Cosme Reno and Reno Tides.

A joyful, hands-on and collective ride, La Ch’tite Boucle creates a rare meeting ground between local authorities, architects, engineering firms, contractors and manufacturers – a chance to share lessons learned, spark new collaborations and move school retrofitting forward, together. Open to all fitness levels, the three-stage route combines school visits with first-hand accounts from the people who made them happen.

Here, cycling isn’t about performance – it’s the thread that ties it all together, turning site visits into a shared and inspiring experience.

Let’s roll!
