Integrated retrofit solutions are already being developed and applied across Europe. Within LIFE Arec Reno, we want to make these solutions easier to find, compare and use. That is why partners in France, Italy, Germany and Ireland are building an open database of biobased integrated retrofit solutions. The aim is to make existing solutions more visible and accessible for citizens, one-stop shops, social housing organisations and retrofit professionals working on scalable renovation across Europe.
Database of integrated retrofit solutions
The database will bring together commercially available solutions that can support the transition towards faster, more sustainable and more industrialised renovation. By collecting these solutions in one place, Arec Reno aims to support better decision-making and help connect promising products and systems with the people and organisations that can put them into practice.
First insights show strong potential
The first mapping round already shows that the market is moving. Partners identified:
- 37 commercially available prefab solutions
- strong use of off-site and kit-based approaches
- façade retrofit as a key scaling opportunity
- timber-based systems as an important backbone
These first results confirm that biobased and industrialised retrofit is no longer just an ambition. Practical solutions already exist and can play an important role in renovating homes in a faster, healthier and more climate-friendly way.
